1 LSBHR Intake Coordinator + 6 Area Assistants (Normally 4 hours / week)

We need Intake Assistant for each of the 6 areas in Houston

North/Northeast (Montgomery County, Spring, Woodlands, Kingwood, etc…)

Northwest: (Waller, Jersey Village, Tomball, etc…)

West/Southwest: (Ft. Bend County, Katy, Sugar Land, Alief, etc…)

South/Southeast: (Galveston County, Clear Lake, Friendswood, League City, etc…)

East: (Pasadena, Baytown)

Central Houston: (Inside Loop)

  • Receives the calls from the person manning the hotline about any potential incoming dogs.
  • Calls the specific shelter or private party that has the dog needing to be rescued and gathers information on the dog for a good foster home placement
  • Advises the Foster Home Coordinator of the incoming dog and the info for foster home placement, including any costs for rescuing the dog from the shelter
  • Arranges for the transportation of the dog from the shelter to the veterinarian for the intake examinations or the foster home
  • Works with the Treasurer and Foster Home Coordinator to assure adequate funds are available for necessary treatments before accepting a dog

NON-LEADERSHIP POSITIONS

 

Basset Hound Chauffeurs -

Persons to "shuttle" bassets from one location to another.  Dogs frequently need to be shuttled between shelters, vets, foster homes, and adopted homes.  

You can even write your mileage off on your tax return!!!

Event Booth Houndies -

Persons to be available at our event booths (such as the dog show, PetsMart adoptions events, various festivals, etc..) to answer questions, sell cool basset stuff, and hang out to exchange basset stories with the other houndie lovers at the booth!  (It's FUN, I promise!)

Fundraisers -

Persons willing to pursue various fund-raising ideas, such as call companies to sponsor our various events, donating items for raffles, free copies at Kinkos, etc...

Seamstresses and Other Crafters -

We had GREAT success raffling this easy-to-sew dog bed!  Would you like to volunteer to sew some more?  (We can provide pattern, fabric, stuffing, and supplies!)  LET US KNOW!!!

Dog Suit Wearers! -

We need a good strong body to wear our fun furry basset suit at various events!  All you have to do is wear the suit, pose for pictures, and allow the occasional kiddie to sit in your lap to tell you about what he/she wants for Christmas!
