President - CONTACT
- Acts as the representative of the organization members as a whole, rather than as an individual supervisor to staff.
- Develops agendas for meetings in concert with the board of directors. Presides at meetings.
- Committees: Recommends to the board which committees are to be established. Seeks volunteers for committees and coordinates individual board member assignments. Makes sure each committee has a chairperson, and stays in touch with chairpersons to be sure that their work is carried out
- Board Affairs: Ensures that board matters are handled properly, including preparation of pre-meeting materials, committee functioning, and recruitment and orientation of new board members.
- Speaks to the media and the community on behalf of the organization
- Listed as the contact person for our 501c3 non-profit status
- Facilitates decision making process for the rescue. Ensures that all points of view are considered, and that the ultimate consensus is reached and then documented and communicate
Foster Home Info - CONTACT
- Informs and promotes dog rescue and the need for foster homes.
- Receives foster home applications
- Interviews potential foster homes
- Sends out the veterinary guidelines, foster checklists, adoption contracts, member roster, and administrative guidelines to all new foster homes, and updates, as needed, to the general membership
- Works with the Intake Coordinator to determine the foster home placement of any incoming dogs
- Contacts the foster home about fostering a specific dog
- Works with the foster home in obtaining medical needs
- Helps provide any specific needs for the foster dog - crate, heartworm preventative, flea preventative, antibiotics, etc.
- Acts as a resource to the foster home regarding behavior, medical, and adoption questions
- Works with the Treasurer regarding the availability of funds for medical treatments or special boarding needs
- Receives weekly updates from each foster home on all dogs in the program
- Communicates regularly with the Adoption Coordinators concerning the progress of the dogs and their availability for adoption.
Adoption Info - CONTACT
- Accept Adoption Applications from the website
- Contact applicants and verify they are educated on the breed.
- Discuss dogs in the program that are a good match for the applicant(s)
- Conduct "Vet Checks" (Verify that the applicant has a veterinarian and is responsible with their animal's health.)
- Answer any potential adopter's questions about the adoption process, and remind the adopter's of our policies of keeping the dog indoors at night, keeping the dog in a fenced area, etc...
- Initiate the adopter's contact with the foster homes.
Intake Info - CONTACT
- Checks LSBHR Hotline daily
- responds to all emails and call for owner turn in's and shelter calls
- speaks with owners who wish to turn in their basset hound
- collects all information for bassets needing to come into the program
- makes decisions on the owner turn-in basset hounds
