Lone Star Basset Hound Rescue is an all-volunteer non-profit organization that runs strictly on volunteer work and donations. The Lone Star Basset Hound Rescue's goal is to help place as many homeless basset hounds as possible. Our first priority must be the bassets whose time is up at the animal shelters. They require our immediate attention to save their lives.

Due to our very limited number of foster homes, we are unable to take any owner relinquished dogs into our program. However, we can still assist you by listing your basset hound(s) on our website under "Bassets up for Adoption by Owners". This option is much like putting an ad in the newspaper. Your dog will be listed with your contact information, so that persons interested in adopting your dog(s) will contact you directly without going through our normal application screening and placement process. You will continue to care for your basset hound until you find a suitable home.

Steps to get your dog listed:

1. Send via regular mail to LSBHR, PO Box 2250, Sugar Land, TX 77487-2250:
   • Proof from your veterinarian that the dog is up to date on all vaccinations, is heartworm negative, and is spayed or neutered.
   • (2) photographs of each dog
   • Copies of the dog's AKC papers (if you have them)

Once we have all of the above, we will place the information on our "Bassets up for Adoption by Owners" webpage. Your ad will remain on this webpage until you notify our webmaster that it can be removed. Click here to contact the webmaster.
